This song would play on the satellite music station we have at my job, and I would always wonder who it was by. The song got stuck in my head in a good way, and I wanted to be able to listen to it whenever I wanted to, but I couldn't find the song anywhere. All I could remember of the lyrics was "must be something" and something about a "lock" and "key". I posted a question about the song on a message board (Datalounge), and I checked the responses again today. To my surprise, someone had replied with the correct answer. The song is called "Locket and Key" by Donna The Buffalo.
I also posted the question on Yahoo! Answers, and I got totally incorrect replies, such as Taylor Swift's "Christmas Must Be Something More" and Danni Minogue's cover of Madonna's "Open Your Heart". I got the Taylor Swift answer because I figured Taylor Swift would be singing a pop-ish bluegrass song, and that it would be popular right now. The title of her Christmas song also has "must be something" in it so I can understand that answer. I got the "Open Your Heart" answer because I said the lyrics said something like "you hold the lock and I hold the key", but I assured everyone it was not Madonna's song, Open Your Heart. Oh well, I guess they tried.
Here is the song in all its glory (I usually don't like this bluegrass sound, but there is something special about this song) ...

Ringa Ringa is on the soundtrack to "Slumdog Millionaire". The song is by A R Rahman, Ila Arun, and Alka Yagnik. I the sound sounds pretty cool. I made a little video for it (I think I went overboard with the transitions) ...
I couldn't get the quality right, though, so it came out blurry again. Damn!
I decided to upload an incomplete version of my little Obama video to YouTube just so it could get more views. I really want Obama to be our next president, and I get a little worried that people will think he is going to win and feel like they do not have to do anything to support him. I hope he does win, but I will be holding my breath until election night. I just hope everyone goes out and votes! I think the better the turnout, the better chances he has to win.
Here is the incomplete video of Obama in Red and Blue ...
It is incomplete because YouTube videos can only be 10 minutes long, and the song, "Rhapsody in Blue", is longer than 17 minutes.
edHere is a short clip of an updated version of the song "Shells" by M.I.A. The speed has been adjust on this version so M.I.A.'s voice sounds normal. Her voice sounded like Alvin and the Chipmunks in the version of the song in my previous post.
This version still doesn't sound 100% perfect, but it's better. I can't wait to hear a high quality version of this song in its entirety.
Here are a bunch of photos I took yesterday with my friend, Travis, as we walked around downtown Austin. I thought the pictures came out a little better than usual, and I think it is because it was so bright outside. As pale as I am, I can't believe I did not get sunburn or sunburned or sunburnt (however you are supposed to say it ... probably the first one).
OK, here are the dazzling photos (well, a couple of them) ...
I just got this email from Barack Obama's campaign that said you could get this shirt ...

It is way too hot in Austin so I thought I would post some songs that either mention "rain" in their lyrics or sound like water/rain. I may have posted some of these before. Here is the current forecast for Austin, TX ...
Here is a song that I could play over and over again if I had to. It has a sort of submarine sound to it ...
This next song actually mentions "rain" ...
"It's raining all over the world" (yeah, right) ...
This song has always sounded kind of underwater to me ...
This last song takes place when a storm is coming in Bram Stoker's Dracula ...
Also, here is a video from last summer in Austin, when it rained so much that they had to open up the floodgates at Mansfield Dam.
Madonna has a song on her new album, Hard Candy, called "She's Not Me", that is pretty cool. Wendy Melvoin from Wendy & Lisa and Prince's band, The Revolution, is credited with playing the guitar on the song, and her name is even mentioned in the song. Like other songs on the album, the sound of the song changes at certain points, which keeps it pretty interesting. The song reminds me of Garbage's "Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go!)". Listen to both songs and maybe you'll hear the similarity ... maybe not.

Here is the video for Prince's song, "1999", which I have always really liked. I don't know if Wendy is in this video, but it's still topical for this blog post ...
Prince is very picky about where his music and videos can be shown/streamed so I could not find the "1999" video on YouTube, but I did find it on imeem.com.

Here is another song from Portishead's new album, Third. It is the first song on the album, and I love the phrase, "did you know what I lost, do you know what I wanted", that is repeated in the song.
Here are some songs from the new Santogold album. Most of the songs on the album have been shared on the internet for years, but it's nice to hear high-quality versions of the songs. Santi White of Santogold is friends with M.I.A., and they seem to travel in the same social circles, but Santogold is a group that definitely stand on their own talent-wise.

Santogold - Unstoppable
Santogold - Anne
In other news, I guess I am not M.I.A.'s #1 fan anymore because I did not go to her concert at La Zona Rosa in Austin on May 1st. I had to work the next day, and there was no way I could go to that concert and make it to work the next day. Also, by the time I even considered risking it and going to the concert, the tickets were sold out. I am sure the show was awesome, though, because her last show there a couple of years ago was full of energy and the sound was perfect.
Here is a picture from the Austin concert ...
I think all of the photos were taken by David Reagan for the Austin American-Statesman's blog aka Austin360.com.

Also, this "4 Minutes To Save The World" song has invaded my mind, and I am liking it. The video is pretty cool, too.
