On iTunes, M.I.A.'s single, "Paper Planes", continues to move up the chart. It is at #11 right now, and as more and more people realize how cool M.I.A.'s music is, the song should continue to rise (it took you long enough, world!).
Anyway, here is an image of the chart ...
I wouldn't purchase the song on iTunes. I would buy it on Amazon.com's MP3 Downloads site because it will be DRM-free (meaning you can play it on any device as much as you want, and you can burn into onto as many CDs as you want or share it with as many friends as you want because it doesn't have that annoying digital rights management format)

It takes a while for all the international money to be calculated so the worldwide total could be a lot higher right now.
The rankings on the bottom-right part of the webpage are very interesting, too. If you like BoxOfficeMojo.com, you should probably register on the site with your email address, but don't try out the trial version, and make sure you go into email preferences and turn off all of the subscriptions. I go to the site almost everyday because I love to see how well and badly movies do (I'm talking about you, Love Guru!).
P.S. Make sure you buy M.I.A.'s single, "Paper Planes", so that awful song by Katy Perry will not be #1 anymore. That song is so bland! I guess it could be a lot worse, but she her management/producers are trying way too hard to make her look like the hip, bad girl. The song, "I Kissed A Girl", has already been done by Jill Sobule a long, long time ago. I mean, the new one has a nice beat to it, but I don't think Katy Perry sings that well. If you want an edgy song by a better female singer, try out someone like Goldfrapp.
Here is the video for Goldfrapp's song, "A & E". I wanted to post it because it gets taken down a lot, and I wanted to see if this one gets taken down, too, from YouTube.
Here it is again for posterity ...
I wanted to see how this would turn out. I just made a couple of images with Microsoft Paint, and then I thew them into Honestech Video Editor 7.0 along with Goldfrapp's "Eat Yourself", and this is what came out ...
(YouTube is so sensitive so, of course, the video is not available now)
but here it is on Photobucket ...
or here ...
Years and years ago, I used a cassette player to record songs, play songs, etc. Either the player or the cassette would mess up sometimes and cause the entire song to play backwards. Well, sometimes this error produced some cool results. Here are two of my favorite backwards songs ...
Electric Light Orchestra and Olivia Newton-John - Udanax
The cool thing about playing "Xanadu" backwards is that the song has more of a desperate, urgent feel to it, like some catastrophe is about to happen (maybe I am the only that hears this). Also the phrase, "Now we are here" which is sung by the backup singer (is that ELO's Jeff Lynne or members of ELO?) becomes "Now you are here". That little trick makes sense since ELO always played around with secret messages on a song played backwards.
Tori Amos - eeeii
Tori Amos' "iieee" is probably one of my favorite songs ever. When played backwards, the "iiiiiieeeeeeee" parts sound really cool and kind of creepy like something the faux witches in The Crucible would have sung in the woods. ;)
and here are some others I was playing around with just for fun ...
BT and Tori Amos - Blue Skies (backwards)
There's nothing special about this song played backwards. I just thought it sounded cool. Playing vocals backwards can make the emotion in the singer's voice sound a little more intense for some reason.
Bjork - Earth Intruders (backwards)
Again, nothing too special about this song being played backwards. I just wanted to see what it sounded like. The end of this song sounds like Bjork is standing on a boat about to leave the dock. That part of the song begins when played backwards.
Goldfrapp - Clowns (backwards)
I just wanted to see what this would sound like backwards.
Goldfrapp - Eat Yourself (backwards)
Same as above.
Goldfrapp - El Train (T. Raumschmiere Remix ... and backwards)
This remix contained vocals from "Train" played backwards already so when you play the remix backwards, you hear those vocals played correctly. You'll see what I mean.
I love M.I.A.'s song, 20 Dollar, and I wanted to hear what the background sound that's repeated throughout the song would sound like backwards.
OK, that's all I got for this strange and unnecessary post.
Thanks to Rick, who let me know that the mystery song located in my Club 6400 collection is actually "Dark Number" by Poesie Noire. It's funny how many songs I have discovered by Poesie Noire thanks to a little mixtape that was my sister's more than a decade ago.
Here is "Dark Number" by Poesie Noire ...
Here is a cool song I uploaded recently from the Donne Darko soundtrack. I love its machine-like sound ...
Here is the wonderful song "Clowns" by Goldfrapp. I made this "Neighbors" only before so let's see how quickly I will get a message to take this down ...
Remember, you can email me for any song you find on my blog or my other blogs/websites that you like. I suggest every casual web-surfer out there start a blog, though. It's fun, and it's a good way to preserve things. VOX is my favorite blog so far. I also think everyone out there should get a Gmail account for sharing and storing mp3s, pictures, videos (less than 20MB in size), etc. Gmail's awesome, and you never have to delete anything!
In other news, I found a bunch of links to "The Maxx", a great animated series on MTV from a long time ago. I think it was on in 1995. It was part of MTV's Oddities series. Another cartoon they had was called "The Head". Both cartoons were pretty cool, but "The Maxx" was the clear winner, and I could see it being turned into a movie easily. Here is a link to every issue of The Maxx comic book, I think.
Here are some videos on YouTube of The Maxx ...
The song in that video is Goldfrapp's "Oompa Radar" from her first (and best) album, Felt Mountain.
Well, there have been two episodes of the most recent season of America's Next Top Model, and I already know that my favorite model is Heather. I am really bad about not watching this show all the way through during the season. I usually watch a whole season all the way through when it is shown again on VH1 or MTV. This time I will definitely be watching every episode as long as Heather, a beautiful model with Asperger syndrome(a mild form of autism), is still in the competition.
Hearing Heather talk about Asperger syndrome makes me think of the book, "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time", which is written from the point of view of a young man with Asperger's.
Here is a photo of Heather from the official ANTM site that I played around with (the song is "Slippage" by Goldfrapp, which has been in my head a lot today) ...
Someone on the M.I.A. message board posted this song, Rain Dance, for everyone. I don't know where it came from, and I am too busy to try to research it right now. Here it is ...
You can also download it here. I don't think there is anything wonderful about this song(edit: well, i am liking it more and more as i listen to it), but it is nice to have another song in my M.I.A. catalog.
As I was searching for "rain dance" in my iTunes library, a remix of Goldfrapp's Train was also pulled up. I didn't even know I had this remix, but here it is ...
Goldfrapp - Train (Village Hall Mix)
