OK, there are three songs on Portishead's new album, Third, that make me think of others songs.
The first song is "Hunter", which makes me think of a song from the 1992 horror movie, Candyman, by Philip Glass called "Face to Razor".
Here are the two songs ...
The next song on
Third is "The Rip", which makes me think of the Pink Floyd song, "On The Run", from
Dark Side of the Moon. You have to listen to all of "The Rip" to hear the similar sound. Here are those two songs ...
(If you play Dark Side of the Moon with The Wizard of Oz, "On The Run" plays a little bit after the above scene.)
The next song from the
Third album that reminds me of another song is "Deep Water", which reminds me of the Ink Spots' "I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire". Again, you have to listen to the Portishead song for a while to see the similarity. Here are the two songs ...
OK, now here are three songs that I listened to or thought of recently that use the expression "lights go down" or "when the lights go down" in them.
John Stewart - Gold
Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) - The Lights Go Down
and finally Madonna's Heartbeat (from
Hard Candy) ...
I just realized that it is Madonna's song "
Give It 2 Me" that says "when the lights go down", but "Heartbeat" does have the phrase "that the light shines on" so it is a little topical. OK, I am done now. This post is way too random.
