This is not my favorite remix, but I thought it could use a larger "view count" ...
M.I.A. posted some photos on her MySpace blog of her and Oprah at the TIME 100 celebration. Her boyfriend, Benjamin Bronfman (aka Ben Brewer), was at the party with her.
M.I.A. was nominated for a BET Best New Artist award. M.I.A. has been around since 2004-2005 so it's kind of weird to have her nominated as a best new artist, but it's still nice.
Here is the link to the nominees.
I read an article on CNET about great ways to track traffic to your website, and my new favorite traffic-tracking site is Histats.com. It's totally free, and it's very easy to navigate. Today the website's Geolocation feature told me that people from the U.S., UK, Colombia, Mexico, Australia, and Slovenia are visiting this VOX blog. I think that is awesome. I've always loved the idea of somehow communicating with people around the world, even though I don't exactly have the money to travel around the world right now. It makes me feel a little bit more international. You can place the counter in the lower right part of the page that has the options "Edit" and "Hide".
Xmarks (formerly "Foxmarks) is a tool that you can add on to Mozilla's Firefox browser that stores all of your bookmarks. It will prompt you to "sync" everytime you add a new bookmark. I love this tool because I can go to any computer, download the Xmarks tool and have access to all of my bookmarks.
Allyson on America's Next Top Model did not win tonight. She was beaten by Teyona. Both of them were very good, but I thought Allyson had such a unique look that would look great for high fashion photos. I hope she gets a good modeling contract anyway so she can travel the world and hone her craft.
I kind of already posted this, but I wanted to post it again with a new video for it. Here is a link to a good torrent for remixes of M.I.A. songs and rare M.I.A. songs that have never been officially released ...

I decided to make a torrent file that would include tons of M.I.A. remixes and songs that have never been officially released. You can download the file here, or you can go the page at Mininova that describes the torrent file. A good torrent program is Bit Torrent, if you need something to open the torrent with.
In other news, here is a funny scene from Gregg Araki's strange 1992 movie, The Living End. A friend of mine and I still make fun of this scene because it is so random ...
I was reading an article on CNET about some underwater photos that were submitted for a University of Miami photo contest, and I thought this one from Vickie Coker of Austin, TX, was the coolest one ...
I have actually posted about this before, but I didn't have a cool video to accompany the post back then so here I am again. Anyway, I have been using this BOINC screensaver for a very long time. The screensaver is associated with a project called Rosetta@Home, and what it does is analyze proteins to try to find a cure for major diseases, such as cancer, HIV, Alzheimer's, diabetes, etc. It's a cool idea, and I feel like something really good will come out of it so that's why I have been using it for years. I am not the only, there are tons of people who have it as their screensaver, and they form teams sometimes.
There are leaderboards that show which teams have earned the most credits (you get credit for all the information that you upload to Rosetta@Home from the work that has been done with your screensaver). I would like people to join my M.I.A. Team so we can earn tons of credits and get M.I.A.'s name on the top of the leaderboards (I get ambitious about the weirdest things).
Anyway, if you would like to join my team, go here and sign up or you can sign up for Rosetta@Home, go to Community, find Teams, and search for M.I.A.

Here is my recruitment/propaganda video ...
The music is not an M.I.A. remix ... it's just a bunch of clips from all of her songs thrown together. Not all of her songs got included due to the 10-minute time restraint so there may be a second "recruitment" video down the line.
The image of M.I.A. in the video is from an incomplete drawing by Mikee from the M.I.A. Fans message board. The drawing is complete now, and you can contact him at http://myspace.com/mikee81889 if you need more information.
Here is the image ...
Download the BOINC screensaver from Rosetta@Home and join the M.I.A. Team today! =)
Download a 20-minute megamix of M.I.A.'s song by DJ AKOL ...
Watch the mix on YouTube (it had to be split into 2 videos since it is longer than 10 minutes) ...

In other news, "Slumdog Millionaire" did really well at the Oscars. The film was nominated for 10 awards, and it won 8 of them. It won for best song and best score, which is great for A R Rahman. M.I.A.'s song with Rahman, called "O ... Saya" did not win, but the very catchy song, "Jai Ho", from the end of the movie did win. However, M.I.A. did win in a way because her record label, NEET, is behind the distribution of the soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire so the better the soundtrack does, the more success for her record label. Her next project with her record label will be to release Rye Rye's first album.
I am amazed at how well Slumdog Millioniare is doing at the box office. It is on its way to making over $100 million domestically, and it has already made around $160 million overall (over $60 million internationally). The movie only cost $15 million to make so it is truly a success.

Google's homepage, iGoogle, where you can add all the RSS feeds you want (I have lots of tech news feeds) has a lot of themes to choose from. One that I recently chose was Radiohead's theme, which is really cool looking. Here it is ...
Now, Gmail has themes, too. There are a lot to choose from. I chose one called "Pebbles", and it looks really cool whenever I go to my inbox ...
In honor of the Radiohead theme for iGoogle, here is a video for their song, Weird Fishes ...
The above video is embedded from MySpace Music. I don't know why Radiohead didn't just put the video on their YouTube channel. Here is the most recent video from their YouTube channel, Reckoner ...
In other news, I really want to get the December issue of SPIN magazine with M.I.A. on the cover ...
That photo is from M.I.A.'s MySpace, and I am sure she added the bottom part. The scanned photos from the magazine can be seen here (LiveJournal's "Oh No They Didn't" community).
The XBOX 360 got a whole new experience that makes its interface a lot cooler. It also teamed up with Netflix to be able to stream movies on your TV. I have Netflix so I tried it out, and it is awesome! I am really happy I chose the XBOX 360 over the PS3 and the Wii. It has been a great video game console. Here is a video on the new XBOX 360 stuff ...
The game that I am totally addicted to right now on the XBOX 360 is Fallout 3. The theme of this game is a post-apocalyptic world where you are trying to survive, make connections, kill monsters, etc. It's very "I Am Legend", but with more people and creatures around. I was frustrated with the game at first, and I didn't think I would ever get into it (this happened to me with the similar game, Oblivion), but I have given the game a second chance and read up about it on some walk-throughs, and I am happy to say that I love the game now ... a bit too much. I have to remember to eat, go to work, etc., and not play the game 24-7.
The video above makes the game look like it is nothing by a "shoot-em-up" type of game, but there is a lot more to it. There is a lot of dialouge, interaction with other characters, foraging, design/customization, etc., in the game. The game is not just about killing evil creatures (but there is a lot of that).

There is this Danny Boyle film that is out right now in limited release called "Slumdog Millionaire". I think the movie takes place in India, and the main languages in the movie are Hindi and English and a combination of Hindi and English. Anyway, the movie is getting stellar reviews, and it sounds really cool. M.I.A.'s song, "Paper Planes", is featured in the movie. I think there are actually two versions of the song used in the movie, but I could be wrong about that. I want to see it just because it sounds good, but the fact that it has her music in the movie will be an added bonus.
Ladyhawke's self-titled album is finally available for download on the U.S. version of Amazon.com. You can download it here. There is something very refreshing about Ladyhawke's music. Her voice is very easy to listen to, and she combines just the right amount of electronic and retro sounds into her music.
Here is Ladyhawke's song, Morning Dreams (this is the slowest song on the album) ...
Here is a remix of M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" by the German DJ, Radicarl. There is something subtle about the beats that is kind of nice to listen to.
You can download the remix here.

Don't forget to vote for M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" video at Fuse.tv! She is losing right now to Chris Brown. :(
