I love David Lynch's weird movie,
Lost Highway, which came out in 1997, I think. I remember going to watch it twice, once on a date at a normal movie theater, and then at a small arthouse-type theater near UT campus. I still can't really tell you what the movie is about, but it has some of the best scenes that make it all OK. You can draw your own conclusions about what it all means. I like to think that Bill Pullman will forever be punished for killing Patricia Arquette, even if he psychologically throws himself into a parallel universe where he has someone else's identity(Balthazar Getty's identity to be exact). Robert Blake plays a character I like to call "Death" in the movie. 5 years after the movie came out, he was arrested for murdering his wife. However, I don't think they ever proved it.
Here is the trailer on Youtube ...
The movie is still not available in a widescreen DVD(it's only available in a Pan and Scan format, which I hate), but it is easy to get the soundtrack, which is the best part of the movie. Trent Reznor did the soundtrack, with help from Marilyn Manson, Billy Corgan, and the amazing Angelo Badalamenti(who appears on all of David Lynch's movies' soundtracks). My favorite parts of the soundtrack are the instrumental/strings parts and hard to notice gems like Patricia Arquette saying "You'll never have me" at the beginning of Marilyn Manson's Apple of Sodom.
And here is another song that is played when Patricia Arquette and Balthazar Getty make love on the beach ...
