The Shining is one of my favorite movies, and I am talking about the original 1980 version that Stanley Kubrick did. I hate the version that was on ABC. A lot of fans of the Stephen King novel, which the two movies are based on, of course, thought the ABC one was better because it was more faithful to the novel. That's so wrong. TV movies are almost always awful, and Stanley Kubrick's film had such a great style and atmosphere to it. I love Stephen King's novels, but I actually enjoyed watching Stanley Kubrick's version of The Shining more than reading Stephen King's book. Anyway, another great factor of The Shining is the music. Wendy Carlos, who did the music for A Clockwork Orange and Tron, did a lot of the music in The Shining. The eerie music definitely adds to the movie, and the movie wouldn't be the same without it, which can be seen in the following videos ...
