Google's homepage, iGoogle, where you can add all the RSS feeds you want (I have lots of tech news feeds) has a lot of themes to choose from. One that I recently chose was Radiohead's theme, which is really cool looking. Here it is ...
Now, Gmail has themes, too. There are a lot to choose from. I chose one called "Pebbles", and it looks really cool whenever I go to my inbox ...
In honor of the Radiohead theme for iGoogle, here is a video for their song, Weird Fishes ...
The above video is embedded from MySpace Music. I don't know why Radiohead didn't just put the video on their YouTube channel. Here is the most recent video from their YouTube channel, Reckoner ...
In other news, I really want to get the December issue of SPIN magazine with M.I.A. on the cover ...
That photo is from M.I.A.'s MySpace, and I am sure she added the bottom part. The scanned photos from the magazine can be seen here (LiveJournal's "Oh No They Didn't" community).
The XBOX 360 got a whole new experience that makes its interface a lot cooler. It also teamed up with Netflix to be able to stream movies on your TV. I have Netflix so I tried it out, and it is awesome! I am really happy I chose the XBOX 360 over the PS3 and the Wii. It has been a great video game console. Here is a video on the new XBOX 360 stuff ...
The game that I am totally addicted to right now on the XBOX 360 is Fallout 3. The theme of this game is a post-apocalyptic world where you are trying to survive, make connections, kill monsters, etc. It's very "I Am Legend", but with more people and creatures around. I was frustrated with the game at first, and I didn't think I would ever get into it (this happened to me with the similar game, Oblivion), but I have given the game a second chance and read up about it on some walk-throughs, and I am happy to say that I love the game now ... a bit too much. I have to remember to eat, go to work, etc., and not play the game 24-7.
The video above makes the game look like it is nothing by a "shoot-em-up" type of game, but there is a lot more to it. There is a lot of dialouge, interaction with other characters, foraging, design/customization, etc., in the game. The game is not just about killing evil creatures (but there is a lot of that).
My sister and I used to watch this movie. It's definitely cheap and 80s, but it's pretty good, especially if you love all the post-apocalyptic themed movies like I do (think "Resident Evil", "Dawn of the Dead", and "28 Days Later").
The version of this song, "Rich Girl", is followed by a reggae rap song that is not part of it. I think the two songs have been fused together and were maybe part of a reggae continuous mix that I accidentally downloaded a long, long time ago. I like the last part of the song, and I recently realized that Cutty Ranks has a song that the sound must have come from called "Limb by Limb". Here is that song ...
M.I.A. and Diplo's "Piracy Funds Terrorism, vol. 1" have a song called "M.I.A./Cutty Ranks" that samples the lyrics from the above song. Here it is ...
I have made a YouTube playlist for Piracy Funds Terrorism, vol. 1, but it is not complete, yet. Here is what I have so far ...
In other news, I hope the debates tonight between Biden and Palin will be interesting. I would think that she would stumble because there's only so much prep work you can do to try to fake knowledge. I know Biden is very knowledgeable and will be able to back up his ideas with specific details. I think Palin will be flustered. I think Tina Fey should do the debate for her, but that would give the Republicans an unfair advantage. ;)
I have been listening to Radiohead a lot lately. I do this from time to time. I really need to start listening to new music just so I know what is out there. However, I don't discover any new music that I like that often. I do want the new Ladyhawke album as soon as it is available to download for the U.S.
Here is a Radiohead song that I have sort of rediscovered from "Hail to the Thief" ...
It is way too hot in Austin so I thought I would post some songs that either mention "rain" in their lyrics or sound like water/rain. I may have posted some of these before. Here is the current forecast for Austin, TX ...
Here is a song that I could play over and over again if I had to. It has a sort of submarine sound to it ...
This next song actually mentions "rain" ...
"It's raining all over the world" (yeah, right) ...
This song has always sounded kind of underwater to me ...
This last song takes place when a storm is coming in Bram Stoker's Dracula ...
Also, here is a video from last summer in Austin, when it rained so much that they had to open up the floodgates at Mansfield Dam.
These are not new songs, but they are new versions of songs.
Here is a better quality version of "Sound of Kuduro" by Buraka Som Sistema ...
Here is a remix of Bucky Done Gun that is new to me ...
Here is a song that pops into my head (just to be random) ...
Also, I wanted to post this song since it was in my head yesterday I think ...
OK, that's all I got for now. This is what happens when you can't sleep.
This is pretty cool. They used some sort of laser technology to do it. You can read more about it at their website or watch the behind the scenes video on YouTube ...
The above video is from Radiohead's blog.
Here is the original song by Portishead.
I love it when an artist I really like is a fan of another artist I really like (or something like that).
http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/05/30/music.radiohead.prince.ap/index.html
The above article is about how Prince performed Radiohead's song, "Creep", at the Coachella music festival. Some fans put videos of the performance on YouTube. Prince's people complained and got the videos taken off of YouTube, but the song is not his. Radiohead has no problem with the song being on YouTube so there is no copyright violation going on. The article will explain it better than me, but it just goes to show how dumb artists look when they try to protect their music way too much. It makes me think of how annoying Metallica was when the band members were complaining about their music being on Napster back in the day.
Here is the song, Creep, by Radiohead. I was in love with the song when I first saw the video for it way back in the early 90s. I think I watched the video on MTV's great show, 120 Minutes. It would be nice if a show like that one was still around.

Here is the video ...
Here is a cover of Radiohead's "Karma Police" by Tori Amos (I may have posted this before) ...
Here is Radiohead's version ...
In other news, Madonna's "Give It 2 Me" video is out and about on the internet now. Here it is on YouTube, but don't be surprised if this video gets taken down since it has already has been taken down numerous times ...
The quality of that video is awful, but I am sure a high-quality version will be uploaded to YouTube sometime soon. I am not crazy about the video, but it's not that bad. People probably wonder why Pharrell Williams is all over the video, but the "Hard Candy" album is almost more his than Madonna's. I think he produced the majority of it, and his voice can be heard throughout the album (along with the voices of Justin Timberlake, Timabaland, and Kanye West).
I have been listening to Radiohead a lot lately for some strange reason (well, I guess it is not that strange since their music is really good), and here are four of my favorite Radiohead songs (well, maybe not my favorite, but they are the ones that are in my head right now) ...
This song has been swimming around my head today. I love how melancholy it sounds. I think "melancholy" would be the right word to use.
Radiohead - All I Need (from the album, In Rainbows)
I have had the "In Rainbows" album for a while now, but I haven't really paid attention to this song until I saw this YouTube video of it ...
The footage is from a 1996 French movie, called Microcosmos. I have already placed it in my Netflix Queue.
I heard about this YouTube video here.
I really like the first song on Radiohead's "In Rainbows" album. It's called "15 Steps", and I repeated it a couple of times on the way home from work. I think it is cool how Radiohead sort of shook up the whole way of purchasing an album. I have read that they made a lot of money off of it, too, which shows people are not complete criminals when they respect the artist and music they are downloading.
