I saw the new Speed Racer movie at Alamo Drafthouse last night. It has gotten awful reviews, but the movie has some very cool scenes. I think the film should have been edited down to an hour and 30 minutes, and I think more color should have been inserted into the slow scenes. The racing scenes are amazing, and they would look great on an IMAX screen, especially if there were an IMAX 3D version of the film (which there may be for all I know). I know they did something like that for Beowulf (which I have not seen).
I think the soundtrack should have been more electronic, electro, techno, whatever. The major DJs out there should have contributed really cool songs to the score of the film. Fast electronic music would have gone perfectly with the scenes, and I think the movie had a little bit of that, but it needed way more.
Here is a very old remix of the Speed Racer song ...
The above song is not in the movie ... it's a very, very old remix. There is a remix of the Speed Racer theme at the end of the movie that Chim Chim dances around, too, while they show the credits. I will look for it. (edit ... I found it on Amazon's MP3 downloads)
Edit ... OK, here is the song Chim Chim dances to at the end of the new Speed Racer movie ...
I think that is the song. It sounds right.
Here is a scene from the end of the movie, but the quality of this video is not that good ...
The Wachowski brothers, who did Bound, The Matrix Trilogy, and V For Vendetta; did this Speed Racer movie, and I expected a lot more from them. However, I still think their visuals during the racing scenes are amazing so just remember that when you read all the horrible reviews of this movie (which is not as bad as the reviews say it is).
You can read a better review of the movie here at Ain't It Cool News. I swear some of these reviewers are ripping into this movie out of peer pressure. However, I think the movie really is the old cartoon brought to life. For fans of the old Speed Racer cartoon, I think the movie will be fun.
In other news, here is another fun song from Madonna's new album, Hard Candy, called "Spanish Lesson". It has really goofy lines like Entiendo means "I get it", but it is still a good song.
OK, here is yet another edit to this post (I think I have edited this post more than any other in the history of this blog) ... I wanted to buy Madonna's "Give It 2 Me (Paul Oakenfold Edit)" on iTunes, but I hate the DRM that goes with an iTunes song (DRM means digital rights management, and it means that you can only play the song on approved players like iTunes and the iPod). However, I then remembered that Amazon's MP3 store is DRM-free so I bought the song there, and here is the cool remix ...
Madonna - Give It 2 Me (Paul Oakenfold Edit) ...

Also, this "4 Minutes To Save The World" song has invaded my mind, and I am liking it. The video is pretty cool, too.
or you can just listen here ...
I'm glad someone put all of the clips from M.I.A.'s upcoming album, Kala, into a YouTube video. It makes it very easy to listen to them. Here is the video ...
I also actually downloaded the video in case the one above gets removed for some strange reason(I don't think it will, though).
So a couple of days ago, I had a co-worker asking me to "name that tune" because he could not remember the name or lyrics for an 80s song he had heard. However, he could hum some of it, and he knew the main vocal was by a man. Here is what the humming part kind of sounded like ...
Yes, that's my bad humming. The tune reminded me of tons of 80s songs. Here are a few that it made me think of ...
We told another co-worker about the song we were looking for, and he thought he knew it, but it turned out he was thinking of this song(which I also remember) ...
When my co-worker was trying to hum this song, it reminded me of Paula Abdul's "Forever Your Girl" ...
However, in the end, the song turned out to be "I Beg You Pardon(I Never Promised You)" by Kon Kan. The original co-worker remembered some lyrics to the song("There once was a time, and there once was a place" ... although, now that I have listened to the song, I know the second part is "and there once was a way"), and I did a Google search on those lyrics and found a post about it on Yahoo! Answers.
Therefore, this is the correct song that we had all been trying to find ...
After listening to this song, it made me think of these two songs ...
Anyway, the mystery is solved, but I thought it would be cool to show all the songs that went through my head while searching for the Kon Kan song.
I downloaded it a long, long time ago(in late 2004 or early 2005) when I was looking for U2's Vertigo on WinMX. It was labeled as U2 - Vertigo (Remix), but it is definitely not a remix of Vertigo, and I don't think it is even U2. I found it again on SoulSeek by doing a search for U2 - Vertigo. It's funny that it is still out there, labeled incorrectly. Anyway, here is the song ...
Please comment if you know who it is by or the title of the song. Maybe the title really is "Vertigo", but I doubt that the name of the group would just happen to be U2, also. I want to label it correctly one day.
